Create 3D Tool from scratch

Today, I was asked to create a new tool for a customer using Mastercam 2024 software and this how I go about creating it:

1. Get all information related to the tool, ie, manufacturer, part numbers, inserts, grades and any other information that is available.
2. Import tool 3D geometry into the software and organize the 3D models to appropriate levels.
3. Launch the Lathe module and generate the tool in the library.

Tool required is an external right hand turning tool with carbide insert from Iscar.

• Tool body number: SVJBR 12-3
• Insert: VBMT 332-AS IC20
